L’Oréal invests 383 million in AI technology center in India
The French cosmetics giant is betting on the Asian country in search of its technological power. The center will be dedicated to the development of innovation solutions based on Artificial Intelligence and will employ 2,000 people.
L’Oréal is looking to India’s technological powerhouse. The French cosmetics giant has announced a $383.4 million investment in the creation of a beauty technology center in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad. The agreement was formalized during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The center, which will be called Telangana, will focus on beauty innovation driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to a press release, two thousand technological jobs will be created by 2030 with the aim of deploying more solutions based on this technology.
Trade between India and France reached $15 billion in 2024. French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have recently focused on reforming their tax treaty and modernizing it, as reported by Reuters news agency at the end of last year.
L’Oréal to name the center Telengana and dedicate it to beauty innovation, with a focus on AI
The French company has announced various investments in recent months. At the end of 2025, it carried out an injection of €60 million to double its production capacity in France. At almost the same time, it raised its stake in Galderma to 20%. Lastly, this month it announced a $30 million investment in its new hub in New York.
However, L’Oréal’s most notable investment was the purchase of Kering’s cosmetics division for 4 billion euros. With this action, L’Oréal absorbed the cosmetics of Creed, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga and McQueen.
The French group closed the first nine months of 2025 with sales of 32,807 million euros, 1.2% more than in the same period of the previous year. This growth was 3.4% on a like-for-like basis. China and the United States led this advance, in addition to the strength of Europe and the sustained momentum of the region grouping South Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East and North Africa.
