Inditex Expands Logistics Footprint with €64.9 Million Purchase in Spain
In a Strategic Move, Spain’s Fashion Titan Secures New Plot at Parc Sagunt for €64.9 Million, a Potential Site for Tempe, Markedly Lower than the Original €160 Million Projection.
Inditex will build a new logistics park. The Spanish multinational presented in early October the only bid to acquire the 381,000 square meter plot of logistics land in Parc Sagunt, in Valencia, which it has finally sealed, in a transaction worth €64.9 million.
An operation that the Valencian Government describes as “the consolidation of Parc Sagunt II as one of the major logistics and industrial centers of the Mediterranean Arc”.
The company only bid for one of the lots of more than 300.000 meters, a third of the total plot, which has one million meters, and was the only bid received by its owner, Espais Econòmics Empresarials (EEE), a public company owned 50% by the Generalitat and the Sociedad Estatal de Promoción Industrial y Desarrollo Empresarial (State Society for Industrial Promotion and Business Development). The initial bid submitted by the multinational was €160 million.
Inditex is considering the creation of another platform for Tempe, which could be located in Parc Sagunt.
Inditex could be considering the development of another platform for Tempe, the company specialized in the design, manufacture and distribution of footwear and accessories for the seven fashion brands of the Spanish group. The new plot acquired in Parc Sagunt could be the place where this project could land.
In 2024, the company announced an investment plan of €1.8 billion, distributed equally between 2024 and 2025, with the aim of strengthening the group’s logistics capacity to cover its medium- and long-term growth.
The other major logistics move is the start-up of its Zaragoza macrocenter. This will take place in June next year, as reported by El Periódico de Aragón just two weeks ago. Located in the Malpica industrial park, it began operations on a trial basis with an initial staff of 250 workers, of the 1,500 that the fast fashion giant plans to hire in the medium term.
