Momad 2026: Fashion Fair Sets February Dates Amidst Calendar Shake-Up
In a bid to steer clear of the September Formula 1 hustle, the Spanish event of fashion, footwear, and accessories will hold its inaugural 2026 event in February, with the summer edition now set for July.
Momad has already secured its first appointment of 2026. The fashion, footwear and accessories fair will hold its winter edition from February 5th to 7th, 2026, a block of the calendar that Ifema has decided to keep stable in the process of trade fair reorganization. The agenda will maintain, as in the last celebration in September, the organization from Thursday to Saturday, avoiding the closing day on Sunday. This move comes in the midst of a review of the calendar and the model of the sector’s professional events.
The event will once again occupy Hall 10 of the fairgrounds and will bring together established brands, emerging firms and national and international buyers, with a special focus on sustainability, craftsmanship and Spanish fashion. As usual, it will coincide in dates with the Bisutex jewelry and accessories fair, with the aim of offering professionals a cross-cutting proposal of textiles, footwear and accessories. The last edition, held in September, brought together more than 300 brands from 23 countries and increased professional traffic by 11% over the previous year, according to the organization.
The next edition will focus on national products, according to the trade fair institution. Momad wants to translate the weight of the fashion sector (which contributes 2.9% of GDP and recorded 23 billion euros in exports in 2024) into a trade fair proposal that “connects design, quality and international vision, with a story that combines craftsmanship, functionality and sustainability”.
For its part, the space dedicated to the Conscious Boutique will expand its presence, with brands that are committed to traceability, recycled materials and low-impact processes to strengthen the visibility of responsible design and its commercial fit in the market. In addition to the exhibition area, Momad will once again have a catwalk space with a program of fashion shows and presentations focused on sustainability, technological innovation and internationalization.
Momad will hold its February edition in parallel to Bisutex
The fair has also opened the new edition of Momad Talents by Isem, which will select two firms with less than three seasons in the market to exhibit at the fair. One of them will also have access to the academic program Fashion and Creativity Management by Isem.
The confirmation of the February dates comes after a year in which Ifema has been forced to rethink the calendar of its fairs. The reason is none other than the arrival of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, which will be held from September 11th to 13th, 2026 at the fairgrounds and will have an estimated impact of 450 million euros for the region. The irruption of the championship has displaced the fairs that traditionally occupied the second weekend of September: Momad, Bisutex, Intergift and MadridJoya.
For Momad, the fit was especially complex. The management ruled out keeping the event in September because it coincided with Who’s Next, and delaying it to the end of the month left the fair without commercial relevance, with most orders already closed. After consulting the sector, Ifema opted for the drastic change of bringing the summer edition forward to July, from the 23rd to the 25th, opening the door to a new, more boutique format, focused on design, craftsmanship and a greater attraction for international buyers.
For its part, the MBFW Madrid catwalk has also revised the agenda for its next edition, which will be delayed to March.
The decision makes the July edition a strategic piece to reposition the fair. With the reorganization of the calendar, the challenge for Momad will be to remain relevant and demonstrate that its proposal is still useful for a sector in transformation, exposed to new purchasing dynamics, a shrinking multi-brand and a hypercompetitive international trade.
