Armani Undergoes Leadership Overhaul with Founder’s Heirs at the Forefront
The Italian conglomerate, currently undergoing a restructuring following the founder’s passing, is poised to reveal its new executive lineup today after Marsocci’s appointment as CEO last October.
Armani is preparing for a new phase. The Italian group is preparing the appointment of a new board of directors as part of the restructuring plan following the death of its founder, Giorgio Armani, who passed away last September at the age of 91. The new top management could be unveiled today.
As reported by Bloomberg, company sources have assured that the company’s new board of directors is already in place, driven by the designer’s heirs and company president Leo Dell’Orco.
In order to maintain the continuity of the company after the death of Giorgio Armani, the group appointed Giuseppe Marsocci as the new CEO in mid-October. The decision, taken unanimously by the Armani Foundation, seeks to continue with the management model defined by the designer.
Giorgio Armani could be facing the sale of up to 10% of the company to the EssilorLuxottica group
Armani could be facing the sale of 10% of the company to the EssilorLuxottica group, fulfilling the will of its founder. As reported by the optical giant last week, it would be willing to invest between 5% and 10% in the Italian firm, as part of the restructuring of the Italian group.
Marsocci, born in Turin in 1963, immediately joined the company’s board of directors. The executive has more than 35 years of experience in fashion and luxury, 23 of them within the Armani group, where since 2019 he served as deputy CEO and global commercial director.
Dell’Orco, Marsocci and vice president Silvana Armani, who is responsible for women’s design, are currently members of the board of directors, controlled by the designer’s family. Other board members include Yoox founder Federico Marchetti, Giorgio’s sister Rosanna Armani, his nephew Andrea Nicola Camerana and his niece Roberta Armani, according to documents filed with the Milan Chamber of Commerce.
