Mango sets new sustainable goals: 100% of garments’ cotton will be eco in 2025

Mango reinforces its commitment to sustainability. The Spanish fashion distribution company has taken another step in its strategy to become more sustainable and will use 100% ecological cotton in its garments in 2025.

In addition, the company has set itself the objective of increasing the proportion of other sustainable fibers in its production for the next five years. In this context, Mango expects to increase the use of recycled polyester in its garments up to 50% until 2025 and that 100% of the cellulosic fibers it uses are of controlled sourcing before 2030.

“The objectives that we have set for our collection are the result of a firm will to continue with the sustainable transformation of Mango as a strategic pillar of the company and in it are involved all of us who are part of the company,” said Toni Ruíz, Mango’s CEO, in a statement.

The company produced eighteen million garments with sustainable characteristics, double the rate of the previous year. In 2018, Mango joined the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) to strengthen its support for the cultivation of sustainable cotton on a global scale.

All these initiatives are part of the company’s Take Action program, which encompasses all those actions aimed at creating a more sustainable business model. In October, the company joined the Fashion Pact together with other companies such as Adidas, Armani group, Bestseller, Burberry, and many more.
