The American company Levi Strauss, whose history related to the beginning of denim, continues to be a leader in the business in the world. The company started in 1873 in the United States and today has more than 2,800 stores on five continents.
Marking a robust performance, the U.S. denim group closed the semester with a $202 million profit, starkly rising from last year’s $7.3 million, and posted nearly $3 billion in sales.
The company has been impacted by the wholesales channel crisis in the United States, where it reduced its sales by 4% in the third quarter of the year.
However, the San Francisco-based company disappointed the market and its shares shed 6% on Tuesday. Second-quarter revenues rose just 5%, reaching 1.3 billion dollars.
