Fashion retail trade in the eurozone slows down after growing 4.6 in June, according to the latest available data published by the Statistics Agency Eurostat.

Fashion sales in Europe hit the wall: rise 0.1%

 

 

Brake in the European fashion sales. Fashion retail trade in the eurozone slowed down and rose only 0.1% in June, compared to the same month last year. In June, they rose 4.6%.

 

The evolution of the retail sales drags a first half of the year with strong swaps. The weak rise of July breaks with the upward trend of the beginning of the year, and later recovered.

 

These rises are opposite to the drops in April and May, of 4.6% and 2.4%, respectively. Despite the big swaps, the evolution of the sales in the first half of the year.

 

 In the European Union (28 countries), textile, apparel and footwear sales also slowed their growth in July, with a rise of only 0.3%, compared to the rise of 4.6% in June. In this region, the indicator dropped only in April, 1.7%.

 

Retail in Europe also slowed its speed. Retail sales in the eurozone increased 2.2% while in the European Union rose 2.6%.  

 

By countries, only Slovakia registered a negative evolution of its retail sales, with a drop of 0.8%. The biggest increase was in Romania, that went 7.5% up and in Slovenia, Hungary and Malta, where rises where over 6%.
