Shanghai is getting ready to welcome the exhibition on Miss Dior, the first fragrance of its founder Christian Dior. Under the name Stories of a Miss, the exhibition will open the doors of the Fosun Art Foundation in Shanghai on September 13th, until October 8th.

Aiming to pay tribute to “the enduring bond between Dior and China,“ according to Véronique Courtois, president and CEO of Dior Parfums, the exhibition will be welcomed on the museum’s esplanade with a monumental sculpture referencing the Bobby bottle, the iconic bottle in the shape of a young lady. The iconic bottle in the shape of a sitting dog with a metal plate around its neck bearing the message “J’appartiens à Miss Dior” (I belong to Miss Dior), created by the house of Dior in 1952 for its Miss Dior perfume.

The exhibition will continue on the first and second floors, with an immersive experience of the origin of the perfume and its “predestined encounter with art and fashion,“ as Dior put it. “Through this journey, we invite our visitors to rediscover the spirit, creativity and emotion that define Miss Dior,“ added Courtois.

Stories of a Miss has been designed by OMA, the Office for Metropolitan Architecture in New York, and is divided into several thematic rooms guided by the distinctive ribbon of the perfume bottle.

Like the first exhibition of the perfume, which took place at the Grand Palais in Paris in November 2013, and the last, hosted by the Roppongi Museum in Tokyo in June 2024, illustration, sculpture, painting and limited edition showcases make up the exhibition in a dialogue between floral fragrances, haute couture and fine art.

It also features artists who have accompanied the maison over the years, such as Eva Jospin, the French artist who has designed the décor for some Dior Haute Couture shows and has now created an interior garden adorned with her original embroideries reflecting Dior Haute Couture design.
