Zalando will close at the end of September a logistics center in the German city of Erfurt that employs some 2,700 people and has also reported that it will cease operations at three warehouses located outside Germany used by external suppliers working with the multinational and About You, the fashion chain bought last summer.

According to Zalando in a statement, the decision is part of a European-wide logistics reorganization plan that will align demand with the combined capacities of Zalando and About You.

Zalando’s website indicates that it currently has 6,000 employees in Germany and logistics centers in countries such as Poland, France and Spain. Once the entire realignment is completed, it will have 14 logistics centers in seven different countries.

The renewal of the organization chart and automation will allow it to “continue to create value and grow as planned”. Zalando has thus confirmed its medium-term objective of compound annual growth of between 5% and 10% for both revenue and gross value of goods processed.

The German ecommerce giant closed the first nine months of fiscal 2025, the period ended September 30th, with revenue of €8.275 billion, up 13.7% from the first nine months of the previous year. Net profit fell by 9.2% to €119 million.

“We are making positive progress, and we are on track to meet our year-end targets,“ the company said during the presentation of the results. Zalando maintained its full-year forecast for 2025, with revenue growth of up to 7%.
