The Kooples relieves its top executive after changing hands. The French women’s and men’s fashion company brings in Arnaud Reytan as CEO, less than a year after the Verdoso group officially took control of the company.

The appointment of a new top executive follows the departure of the previous head of the company, Anne-Laure Couplet, according to FashionNetwork. Couplet has been CEO of The Kooples since 2023.

The new CEO of The Kooples is an expert in corporate reorganizations, having carried out such processes in several companies from his consulting firm. Throughout his career, he has worked for groups such as Carrefour and Brico Dépôt.

In March last year, the French competition authority gave the green light to Verdoso’s acquisition of The Kooples in a deal for an undisclosed amount.

In 2024, the Swiss group MF Brands (formerly Maus Frères), owner of brands such as Gant and Aigle, began to feel out the sale of The Kooples, and in January 2025 negotiations with the Verdoso fund for the deal were made public. MF Brands had owned The Kooples since 2019.

Founded in 2008 by the three sons of the founders of Comptoir des Cotonniers, The Kooples has adjusted its store network over the past few months, a process that is expected to continue under the new management. A year ago, the company had 184 stores in France and 86 in the rest of Europe.

The Groupe Verdoso industrial fund, founded by Franck Ullmann in 1997, has taken control of more than thirty companies and currently holds significant stakes in eight small and medium-sized French companies.
