Columbia Sportswear is making inroads into the sportswear market in Spain. After arriving in Madrid and Barcelona last year, the company specializing in fashion and sports equipment has announced the opening of a store in San Sebastian. Specifically, in the Garbera shopping center.

 

The Columbia Sportswear store has a surface area of more than 1,300 square foot dedicated to sales, and will offer its entire selection of products, both technical clothing, footwear and accessories, as reported by the group in a statement on Monday.

 

“The results of our first two flagship stores in Barcelona and Madrid are very promising and reinforce our commitment to the expansion of our own stores in Spain,“ says José María Alabern, country manager Iberia of the company.

 

 

 

 

By 2025, the group intends to focus its openings in northern Spain, “where there is a great culture and passion for outdoor sports,“ the statement said. The opening in San Sebastian has been carried out with Columbia’s partner in the Spanish market, Experience Group, with whom it also carried out its first two openings in the country last year.

 

Columbia Sportwear recorded a turnover of $778.4 million globallyin the first three months of the year, 1.1% more than a year ago. Its gross profit also increased, albeit slightly, to $396 million, with a gross margin of 50.9%, compared to 50.6% a year ago.

 

By markets, Europe, the Middle East and Africa increased sales by 3% to $107.4 million. By product type, footwear was the worst performer, with sales of $149.6 million dollars.
