Authentic Brands Group Taps Former L’Oréal Exec as Senior Vice President
Amidst a strategic overhaul of its leadership team, the U.S. licensing powerhouse has appointed Victor Alvarino also as head of its Mexican operations after a 20-year tenure with beauty titan L’Oréal.

The U.S. company specializing in the management of fashion and accessory brand licenses continues to reshape its leadership, this time with a director for the Mexican market, who will also assume the position of Senior Vice President.

Authentic Brands Group renewed its global director this year
Throughout his time at L’Oréal, the executive was based in Miami, Mexico, Paris and Madrid, where he was retail director of the luxury products division for more than three years and general manager of the Yves Saint Laurent, Biotherm and Kiehl’s brands for almost two years. In his last position at the head of Ralph Lauren fragrances. Alvarino was based at the cosmetics giant’s New York offices.
His new position at Authentic Brands brings him back to Mexico City to lead the licensing business in the Latin American country. Alvarino has already been involved with local brands such as Mexican eyewear specialist Ben&Frank, for which he was an independent board member for three years. Alvarino is currently an independent board member of Quinio, an industry advisor to Advent and a mentor at Endeavor.
Authentic Brands currently manages more than forty fashion brands such as Nine West, Aéropostale, Reebok, Nautica and Brooks Brothers. The company began reshuffling its top management this year following the appointment of a new president in January, with Matt Maddox replacing Nick Woodhouse, who became deputy CEO.
Under the new management, Authentic Brands has reorganized its business through acquisitions, the latest and most relevant of which was the $1.4 billion purchase of Guess, announced last August, which implied the delisting of the U.S. brand.
The group also strengthened its presence in the East with a new headquarters in Shanghai to streamline its business in Asia-Pacific. In recent years, Authentic Brands has doubled its focus on regions with the greatest growth potential, combining global scale with local knowledge.
Founded in 2010, Authentic Brands Group has based its growth on the acquisition of iconic brands that it repositions to adapt them to the new times through strategic licensing. With its portfolio of fifty brands, the group operates in more than 13,000 stores and 400,000 points of sale worldwide.
