Pablo Isla Álvarez de Tejera was Chairman of Inditex between 2011 and March 2022. The executive joined the Spanish group in 2005, coming from Altadis, as CEO, and in 2011 he assumed the presidency, which until then was held by Amancio Ortega. At the end of 2021, the company announced his departure from the group, effective March 30, 2022. A graduate in law from the Complutense University of Madrid, he was at the top of his class and became a state lawyer. Between 1992 and 1996 he was director of the legal services of Banco Popular. Subsequently he was appointed General Director of State Assets at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. From July 2000 to 2005 he was chairman of the Altadis group, which he left to join Inditex as chief executive. Mr. Isla is also a director of Nestlé and, from April 2022, Chairman of the International Board of Trustees of IE University.
