Colombian Fashion Boosts Global Presence with 2.3% Export Surge in 2025

The year-end figures for Colombia’s apparel exports hit $434.6 million, with the U.S. continuing its lead as the primary destination, even as its imports from Colombia dipped by 5.1%.

Colombian fashion exports managed to close the year on an upward trend. In a context marked by tariff uncertainty, the sector remains positive abroad with growth of 2.3%, up to $434.6 million exported between January and December.

 

The last month of the year was higher than in November, with an increase of 3.6% to $41.8 million, compared to the 2.3% increase recorded in November.

 

By subsectors of the Colombian fashion industry, the category that grew the most in 2025 was the manufacture of knitted and crocheted goods, which increased its exports by 22.4% to $41.1 million.

 

The other two groups that make up the Colombian fashion industry also closed the year in positive territory. In fact, the one that grew the most was leather tanning and footwear, whose exports rose by 2.5% in 2025, to $108.1 million.

 

 

 

 

Textile manufacturing, on the other hand, sold $273.5 million abroad, which represented a 1% growth compared to 2024, according to data published by Colombia’s National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane).

 

 

At the close of 2025, Colombian fashion exports also increased by volume. Apparel and clothing accessories ended the year up 4.2% to 1,157 metric tons.

 

Footwear, on the other hand, which had a good run by value, contracted in quantity, with a 9% drop in exports in 2025, to 241 metric tons.

 

In the last year, the countries that bought the most Colombian fashion were the United States, Venezuela and Peru. Despite remaining the main destination for Colombian fashion, the United States sharply contracted its purchases in 2025, as Colombian exports fell by 23% in textiles and 5.1% in apparel, to $17.6 million and $189.5 million, respectively.

 

Venezuela, on the other hand, bought US$10.5 million in textiles and $16.5 million in apparelfrom Colombia, which translated into growth of 23% and 1.2%, respectively.

 

Colombian exports to Peru, the country’s third largest international fashion market, rose by 7.9% in textiles, to $17.3 million. On the other hand, apparel exports contracted by 1.1% year-on-year, to 39.5 million dollars.
