The Austrian house of Swarovski has embarked on a journey that seems to have as its destination anywhere in the world. The exhibition to commemorate its 130th anniversary began its journey in Shanghai in 2023, with a multifaceted journey into the history and spirit of Swarovski.

 

This immersive experience arrives in Los Angeles next October, after having visited cities such as Milan and Seoul. Masters of Light explores the history of Swarovski in different fields, such as entertainment, fashion, design and its links through the years with cinema and Hollywood red carpets.

 

With a private event for twenty-eight guests, the exhibition will open on October 28th, and will be open to the public for seven days beginning October 29th. The exhibition has been conceptualized by Swarovski’s global creative director Giovanna Engelbert and curated by British fashion journalist Alexander Fury.

 

 

 

 

The first time the more than sixty crystal-embellished haute couture gowns were exhibited was at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai in 2023. In addition to the large selection of jewelry, figurines and art pieces, the exhibition is divided into seven themes called “Chambers of Wonders”.

 

Masters of Light features pieces worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé, Katy Perry or Tina Turner and designed by brands such as Prada, Miu Miu, Fendi Couture, Gucci, Versace, Alexander McQueen or Viviene Westwood.

 

The company, founded in 1895 and based in Wattens (Austria), specializes in the production and distribution of cut crystal, an activity that has evolved into jewelry. The company, which employs 18,600 people, has more than 2,300 stores in 140 countries around the world.
