Warby Parker Teams Up with Google to Challenge Meta and Apple in AI Eyewear
Marking a significant leap in their partnership that kicked off in early 2025, Google and Warby Parker have announced their groundbreaking AI-powered glasses will hit the market in 2026, revealing their first public launch timeline.
Google will follow in the footsteps of Meta and Apple and will launch its Artificial Intelligence (AI) glasses in 2026 with the American optics manufacturer Warby Parker. This was announced by both companies during The Android Show - XR Edition conference, which marked a milestone in the collaboration that Alphabet (Google’s parent company) and Warby Parker initiated in early 2025.
The technology company and the optics company have assured that they will have their first model of glasses with AI next year, reinforcing the former’s commitment to augmented reality and wearable devices.
Google will put all its technology, the Android XR platform and Gemini, its AI model, at the service of this collaboration with the manufacturer Warby Parker. The product will be, according to those responsible for the project, “lightweight, AI-equipped” glasses for everyday use, reports Reuters. Details such as price or distribution plans are not yet known.
In addition to Warby Parker, Google will team up with Samsung and Gentle Monster to develop its most complete line of smart glasses, since they plan to manufacture two different types of devices: some that will incorporate only Gemini and others that will also include screen projections.

In the first case, the simpler model of glasses will interact with the user by voice, through a microphone, stereo speakers and a camera. The second, more complex, will also offer a display on the lens with private access to information such as navigation or subtitles.
The Google Glass project started more than ten years ago, but Alphabet shelved it and concentrated on other business areas. In this time, Meta teamed up with Ray-Ban to create its Quest visors and AI glasses. Apple has also developed its own device called Vision Pro.
