Zimmermann expands in Abu Dhabi. The Australian fashion group, founded by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmerman, has announced the opening of its new boutique in Abu Dhabi, located in the Galleria Mall on Al Maryah Island, one of the country’s most important shopping areas.

This opening is in addition to the brand’s three other stores in the region: its first in Abu Dhabi, in Saudi Arabia and in the United Arab Emirates. This new launch follows the brand’s first openings in Nice (France), on the island of Mykonos (Greece) and in Ibiza, also this year.

The store has been designed by Studio McQualter, also in charge of the decoration of its latest openings, and includes a selection of contemporary art and vintage furniture distributed on the second floor of The Galleria.

Zimmerman was acquired in 2023 by private equity investor group Advent International, which bought a majority stake in the company from the founding family and Italian fund Style Capital, previously a 70% owner. The Zimmermann sisters retain a minority stake alongside the Italian investor, and continue to lead the management and creative direction.

The Australian brand was founded in 1991 by Nicky Zimmermann as a designer. Focused on creating dresses to sell at Paddington markets, the brand was so well received by the fashion press that the brand took off, and Simone Zimmermann, the designer’s sister, joined the company months later.

In its early days, the Zimmermann sisters took the step of merging fashion with swimwear, adding original prints to the brand and carving out a niche in the industry. Today, the company has 87 points of sale around the world.
