Salomon activates the relay in its brand leadership. Scott Mellin, global head of brand for the Amer Sports-owned mountain sports company, has announced that he will step down from his position on April 1st, 2026, the executive said in a LinkedIn post.

Mellin joined Salomon at the end of 2022 with a mandate to define and execute a clear brand vision. In his message, the executive stresses that these three years of work have served to advance that roadmap and puts the focus on the company’s internal culture. According to his own assessment, the team has worked on “reinforcing a culture of creativity” and translating Salomon’s innovation strengths into a “more visible, aspirational and consistent” story throughout the consumer journey.

He stresses the collective nature of this progress and attributes the brand’s performance not only to the brand area, but also to the product, commercial and operations teams. Mellin has defined his time at Salomon as a creative and cultural experience.

Prior to joining Salomon, Mellin served as CEO of LifeLabs Design. Prior to that, he was global general manager of mountain sports at The North Face, where he was involved in the re-launch of the brand’s footwear category and led the company’s sustainability programs.

The news of his departure comes just days after market sources pointed to a possible reinforcement of the French outdoor brand’s creative leadership. Finnish designer Heikki Salonen, until now creative head of MM6 Maison Margiela, has been positioned as one of the leading candidates to join Salomon.

The relationship between the creative and the company is not new. Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela have had an ongoing collaboration since the fall 2022 collection, which has extended to footwear as well as apparel and accessories. According to the same sources, Salonen reportedly left Maison Margiela earlier this week. His eventual joining Salomon and the date of entry have not been confirmed and the designer has not responded, for the time being, to requests for comment.

In parallel to these moves in its brand leadership and reports of a possible Salonen signing, Salomon has strengthened its presence in Paris, with the company opening a new office and showroom in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital, a multi-story space that will serve as a creative and strategic hub for the company.

According to Salomon, this new enclave is conceived as a meeting point for internal teams and external partners and aims to accelerate the brand’s global impact. The space will open to clients during the upcoming Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January, coinciding with one of the main international showcases for the sector.

Amer Sports accelerated again in the third quarter. The Finnish company, which owns Arc’teryx, Salomon, Wilson and Atomic, increased its sales by 30% to 1.756.3 million and more than doubled its profit to 146.4 million. In the first nine months of the year, turnover rose by 25.9% to 4.46 billion and the result increased fivefold to 306.9 million, with Asia (especially China and Asia-Pacific) as the main driver, the direct channel growing by 51% compared to 18% for wholesale and the outdoor division, where Salomon is included, leading with a 36% increase in the quarter.
