Lenzing Shakes Up Leadership: CEO Rohit Aggarwal to Step Down in January
Aggarwal is set to exit the Austrian firm due to personal reasons, effective January 31st, 2026. The leading global producer of cellulosic fibers is reshuffling its board of directors.
Lenzing will renew its top management and restructure its business strategy at the beginning of 2026. With the departure of its current CEO, Rohit Aggarwal, the Austrian company specializing in cellulose fiber manufacturing will operate with a three-member board of directors and will put in place a six-member executive committee, a broader commercially weighted body designed to accelerate the premium product strategy and strengthen divisions with greater market traction.
The new committee will integrate the three board members and three key executives: Patricia Sargeant, head of non-textile fibers, Yann Lepage, head of textile fibers, and Anton Putz, head of the cellulose division.
The creation of this committee responds to the objective of strengthening opportunities in high-performance fiber segments, an area in which Lenzing wants to consolidate its position as a global reference supplier of regenerated cellulosic fibers (Tencel, EcoVero, Veocel or Refibra).
Structural profitability remains a priority for Lenzing, which is already seeking a new CEO
The supervisory board has already begun the search for a new CEO to replace Aggarwal, who will remain attached until September as a consultant to ensure an orderly transition. “Structural profitability remains a priority,“ said Patrick Lackenbucher, chairman of the body, highlighting the improved strategic focus and execution of the efficiency plan during the outgoing CEO’s tenure.
In 2024, Lenzing had a turnover of €2.66 billion, with a production capacity of 1.11 million tons and a workforce of 7,816 employees. The company maintains its guidance for 2025 and anticipates year-on-year growth in gross operating profit (ebitda) supported by commercial repositioning.
