Desigual Expands Niche Collaborations with Strategic Alliance with Botter
The Spanish company is preparing the launch at the end of August of a capsule with the brand led by the former creative directors of Nina Ricci until 2022. This project is part of Desigual’s repositioning process.
New step of Desigual in its strategy of collaborations with niche brands. The company controlled by Thomas Meyer has teamed up with Botter, led by the creative directors of Nina Ricci until January 2022, to launch a capsule. The first collaboration between Desigual and Botter will see the light of day on August 26.
With this alliance, Desigual follows the path that began with the creative Christian Lacroix and has continued with alliances with names linked to design such as Collina Strada or Tyler McGillivary. Collaborations have become an increasingly frequent tool for large retail groups to raise their positioning and link themselves to fashion.
Botter is led by the design duo of Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter, who for three years were creative directors of Nina Ricci, a brand controlled by Puig. With multicultural influences and a mastery of Belgian and Dutch tailoring, Botter is positioned in the luxury segment.
Desigual has already collaborated with names such as Christian Lacroix, Collina Strada and Tyler McGillivary
Under the name Rise & Fall: Anatomy of a Jump, the first collaboration between the two companies is “a proposal that visually and conceptually explores movement, change and freedom of expression through fashion,“ Desigual explained in a statement.
“Inspired by the phases of a jump, impulse, tension, fall and release, the collection develops a kinetic narrative that translates into garments that combine fluid shapes and structured tailoring,“ Desigual says. The capsule revisits the Desigual archives from a contemporary perspective, combining classic elements with an experimental look.
The commitment to collaborations with firms is part of Desigual’s strategy to reposition its brand and product. Since 2019, the Barcelona-based company has focused on rejuvenating its customer and elevating its positioning, a move that in 2024 has begun to be reflected in economic results.
Desigual ended 2024 with a pre-tax result of €3.1 million, thus returning to profit. The company’s sales amounted to €332 million. Desigual is currently working on a new strategic plan.
