Coupang is making another move after the massive data breach it suffered earlier this month. The South Korean ecommerce giant has announced that it will offer around $900 million in shopping vouchers for the around 33.7 million customers affected by the latest hack, the largest ever recorded in South Korea.

As advanced by Drapers on Monday, the giant will offer vouchers of up to thirty euros for use on its own platforms and services to each of the customers whose personal information was shared. The scandal has already taken the group’s CEO, Park Dae-jun, who resigned days after the leak became known.

The unauthorized access to the data, which occurred on June 24, exposed confidential information such as customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping addresses and part of the order history. The company confirmed that credit card information and passwords were not disclosed.

The leak affected nearly two-thirds of the South Korean population and triggered a government investigation. According to the latest information published, Coupang has identified a former employee as the main suspect in the security breach of sensitive information of nearly 34 million users.

According to the latest published data, corresponding to the third quarter of 2025 (ended September 30th), Coupang recorded a turnover of $9.267 billion, up 18% compared to the same period last year, when it posted a turnover of $7.866 billion.

The South Korean company also boosted its profit in the period, up 48%. If in the third quarter of 2024 it posted a profit of $64 million, in the same period this year the figure has risen to $95 million. Adjusted gross operating profit (ebitda) also increased by 20% to $413 million.
