British fashion powerhouse, renowned for its outerwear, has boosted its revenue by the close of its fiscal year 2025, ending April 30th, driven by robust demand for women’s apparel and accessories.

Barbour is targeting the international market. The turnover of the British company, which specializes in outerwear, has been boosted by sales growth in the European, U.S. and Asian markets, up 9% at the end of fiscal 2025 (ended April 30th) to 350.8 million pounds ($479 million).

 

The South Shields-based family brand’s operating profit for the period rose 14.1% to 49.5 million pounds ($67.6 million). Barbour attributes the growth to strong demand for womenswear and accessories, which account for almost half of the group’s sales, although the men’s segment remains the brand’s most important category.

 

The positive performance despite a “challenging global environment,“ as noted by Steve Buck, group CEO, has enabled the company to continue its investment in the northeast of England, where Barbour has been headquartered since 1894. Despite the upbeat results, Buck notes that “it is important that we maintain our focus on controlling overhead costs.“

 

 

 

 

Barbour will implement a long-term strategic plan focused on building a global lifestyle brand while retaining its roots and focusing on its women’s offering, which will follow the strategy it has pursued in the men’s segment.

 

With the UK and Ireland as its most important markets, the brand now aims to develop the business internationally.

 

The company is launching a new educational partnership this year with the British Fashion Council (Bfc), providing financial support and mentoring to students through the brand’s foundation. In addition, the Barbour Foundation will launch a student design competition through the Bfc Schools Council to reinterpret its tartans, with three winners to be selected next April.
