Balmain appoints former Zadig&Voltaire exec as new CEO

Balmain finds new CEO. The French luxury company has signed Jean-Jacques Guével as new chief executive officer. Guével was, up until now, general manager of Zadig&Voltaire, where he was in charge of speeding up its international expansion, especially in United States and China.

The new executive appointment comes after the departure of former chief executive officer, Massimo Piombini, who left the company one month ago after two years in the position due to personal reasons.

Graduated from HEC Business School and Sciences Po in Paris, the executive has a long career in the fashion sector. Guével began working in the fashion division of LVMH, as well as at brands including S.T. Dupont and Louis Vuitton.

The executive, who will take his role next February, “will support the expansion of the house, the development of its accessories lines and further accelerate Balmain’s international growth,” stated the company in a press release.

Balmain is owned by Qatari investment fund Mayhoola since 2016, when it was acquired by the group for 485 million euros. The company has a store network of approximately fifty stores worldwide.
