The Spanish company started in 1963 by Amancio Ortega, where he founded Confecciones GOA, a modest workshop that distributed home garments. Today, Inditex is one of the largest fashion distribution groups in the world and has eight commercial formats, the main one is Zara, that opened its first store in 1975.

The company has launched zara.com/ww, with which it has landed in African markets such as Angola, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Ghana, as well as in areas of the Caribbean and Indonesia.

All eyes in the industry are on the biggest fashion retailer worldwide, who will present this week its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2018.

Concurrently with the Spanish group efforts to turn to a digital-driven business model, Inditex’s young fashion retail chains have introduced changes in their commercial policy.

The company launched this prototype at the beginning of the year at the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford (London) with a pop-up shop. Inditex is in the middle of a transformation of its online- and brick-and-mortar presence.

As revealed yesterday, the Spanish group has been adjusting its huge store network during five years, as ecommerce gained momentum in the company’s turnover. Inditex is now adapting logistics and product to take the business to the next level.
