New Leadership at Gant: Fredrik Malm to Elevate Collections and Retail Network
The Swedish brand with American roots, under the helm of MF Brands Group, has appointed Fredrik Malm as CEO starting December 1, succeeding Patrik Söderström amidst a strategic push in retail and licensing.
Gant renews its management. The Swedish brand has relieved Patrik Söderström with the appointment of Fredrik Malm as new CEO as of December 1st. With Swedish origins and U.S. roots and owned by MF Brands Group, the company is entering a new phase focused on elevating collections and boosting its physical and digital retail network.
The handover has come about through an internal promotion. Malm joined Gant in 2024 as executive vice president of commercial, brand and product, and has since been involved in managing the business and defining the company’s offering. He now takes over from Söderström, who has been at the helm for six years.
Prior to his arrival at Gant, Malm spent his career at several international fashion and footwear companies. He was CEO of SNS, president for Europe and international at Coach, president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Ralph Lauren and retail director at Ecco.
Since 2008, the company has been part of the privately held Swiss holding company MF Brands Group, which also controls Lacoste, Tecnifibre and Aigle. MF Brands Group CEO Thierry Guibert highlighted the new Gant CEO’s track record in the premium fashion and lifestyle segment.

“Fredrik has brought valuable and extensive leadership experience in global premium fashion and lifestyle brands,“ said Guibert. “I have full confidence in his ability to accompany Gant in its next phase of development, which will involve the continued elevation of collections and an acceleration of retail across physical and digital channels,“ he added.
Guibert also highlighted Söderström’s role over the past decade and his “decisive role in transforming and elevating the brand, while delivering solid financial results over these years.“
This year, Gant has strengthened its retail network and, at the end of May, reopened its flagship store on London’s Regent Street following a comprehensive refurbishment of the 6,300-square-meter space. The company framed the reopening as a key milestone in its global retail investments in both the UK and international markets.
In addition to the retail channel, Gant has continued to develop its licensing business. In June, the company announced the early renewal of its exclusive licensing agreement with Italian group Marcolin, which includes the design, manufacture and global distribution of its eyewear collection.
