EssilorLuxottica appoints Sara Manzoni general manager of Iberia region

The executive joined the optical giant in 2014 and now takes over the management of Portugal. After her appointment, Leticia Barrera will replace her in the Portuguese market to strengthen the market internationally.

Essilor Luxottica strengthens its management structure in the Iberia region. The optical giant has appointed Sara Manzoni as general manager of Optical Retail Iberia as part of its strategy to consolidate the Spanish and Portuguese markets.

Manzoni took over as country manager in Portugal in the middle of last year to strengthen the Portuguese market.Following her appointment, she will be replaced by Leticia Barrera, according to a press release.

Manzoni has been with EssilorLuxottica since 2014, and throughout her career she has held various responsibilities in the areas of retail, product and management.

The new Iberia manager believes that “Spain and Portugal are key markets, with different but complementary realities and enormous growth potential.“ During her term of office, Manzoni will be responsible for “giving continuity to the work developed, reinforcing closeness with the teams and moving forward with a coherent, results-oriented strategy.

For her part, Berrera has been linked to EssilorLuxottica since 2013, and has developed her career in different markets. Her most recent position was business development director for Iberia.

EssilorLuxottica grew by 6.7% in the last quarter at current prices, 11.7% at constant exchange rates, which is the group’s best quarterly performance in its history. It ended the period with sales of 6,867 million euros, driven both by the retail business line, which grew by 6.5% year-on-year to 3,644 million euros, and by the professional solutions business line, up 6.8% year-on-year with sales of 3,223 million euros.

In the first nine months of the year, the optical giant posted sales of 20,891 million euros, another 5.9% more than in the same period of the previous year.

EssilorLuxottica is the result of the merger between Luxottica and Essilor in 2018 and, in Spain, operates through the Óptica 2000 and +Visión brands.
