Authetic Brands Group (ABG) was founded by the venture capital fund Leonard Green & Partners in 2010. Its objective is the acquisition of fashion, sports and entertainment companies. With headquarters on Broadway Avenue in New York, the group has more than 25 brands in its portfolio, including Aéropostale, Nautica, Nine West or Juicy Couture.

Authentic Brands Group considers Forever 21 acquisition

The US group is considering an offer to acquire the US fashion chain, subject to bankruptcy.

Although it was anticipated that there could be a bid, finally the group has accepted the offer of 271 million dollars from the American group.

The American company, owned previously by VF Corporation, will launch its new collection online and with a pop up store in New York.

Mónica Nahúm was placed in front of the business of the American company for the region. The group is the owner of brands like Juicy Couture, Vince Camuto or Volcom, amongst others.

The company closed this deal in the middle of its explansion strategy. Currently, the american group counts with portfolio of more that fifty brands.

After the deal, ABG’s brand portfolio accounts for revenues of 8.3 billion dollars (7.2 billion euros). In the last few months, the US-based retail group has bought brands such as Hervé Leger, Nautica and Nine West.

Nine West Holdings, who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection last April, is focusing on its profitable businesses as it restructures its balance sheet.
