Retail sales fall by 0.6% in the United States in 2019

Retail sales in the United States end 2019 on the low note. Sales of apparel, accessories, and footwear, ended the year 2019 with a decrease of 0.6%, according to data from the United States Census Bureau.

Overall, the fall in retail sales in the country, in reality, was far from the growth rates that struck the sector. Last year, retail sales in the United States recorded a year-on-year growth of 3.6%.

Additionally, in December, retail sales in the fashion sector went against all odds, growing by 0.1%. Meanwhile, sales in department stores were also down in 2019: this segment saw a decline of 5.5% from the previous year.
