Fashion retail sales in the United Kingdom moderate their increase on the brink of Christmas. The turnover of clothing, footwear and garment retail sales registered a rise of only 0.1% in November, according to the last provisional data gathered by Office for National Statistics (ONS).

 

It is the third consecutive rise on a row after registering improvements of 0.2% in September and October. Regarding product categories, the sales of garments in the country shoot up by 22.4% in the same month last year whereas clothing raised only 0.5%.

 

In the case of footwear and leather goods, its volume of business dropped yet again, scoring a drop of 7.5% and linking nine months of step backs in a row. Notwithstanding, the downfall scored in November was the lesser one of the last three months standing at 12.4% in September and 8.9% in October.

 

 

 

 

All fashion sales in the United Kingdom put together managed to score an interannual rise of 5% in November after a year of upheavals. After going up by 2.8% in January, the rise lowered to 1.1% in the second month of the year.

 

In March, the commerce’s turnover dropped for the first time this year, with a fall of 1.2% which it maintained in April, when the step back stood at 1.8%. After a punctual rise in May of 2.3%, the sector’s volume of business fell down lightly in June to bounce back by 1.2% again in July and contract 0.3% in August.

 

On the web, the country’s retail sales improved by 13.1% in November in base to the same month last year. The online income of textile articles, clothes and footwear was promoted by 20.7%.
