Fashion sales in the Eurozone jump 0.7% in August
Retail trade in the countries that have the euro as common currency increased 0.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Fashion retail sales change direction in August. After falling 3.5% on an interannual year variation in July, sales of apparel, clothing and footwear in the countries that have euro as common currency rebounded in August, with a 0.7% rise compared to the same month of the previous year.
According to Eurostat data, in June fashion retail sales had increased 4.6%, after two consecutive drops in April and May, 1.2% and 1.3%, respectively.
In retail trade, sales in eurozone increased by 0.3% in August, after 0.5% drop recorded in July. In addition, retail sales in the eurozone increased 0.2% in August, and 0.6% in fashion products.
By countries, the largest increase in retail sales in August was in Portugal, with an interannual variation increase of 1.1%, followed by Germany, with a rise of 1%. In the United Kingdom, retail sales recorded a 0.1% drop; in France, an increase of 0.6%, and in Spain, an increase of 0.5%.
