From Fashion to Living Spaces: Margiela’s Bold Move into Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah
French luxury maison embarks on its inaugural venture into the residential sphere with 25 exquisite villas nestled in the heart of Palm Jumeirah, marking a strategic expansion into the Middle East, where a new boutique is also on the horizon.
Maison Margiela extends the cult brand’s legacy in a rentable luxury space. Architecture and design come together in the French luxury house’s first foray into the residential sector, arriving in the heart of Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah as part of its expansion strategy, with plans to open a new boutique and café at the Mall of Emirates.
The complex consists of 25 villas conceived as a tangible extension of the maison’s aesthetics. The luxury brand is expanding its universe around luxury living in one of the most exclusive locations in Dubai. The project is designed by Italian architect Carlo Colombo, author of other designs such as the interior of the Silent Elegance villa in Lugano, or the design of furniture for other luxury brands such as Bugatti Home.
This project, in collaboration with Alta Real Estate Development, a local developer, has represented each residence as a blank canvas, molded using trompe l’oeil, décortiqué techniques characteristic of the house and white optical resin details.
Maison Margiela to open new boutique and café at Mall of Emirates
Maison Margiela has already completed other iconic interior design projects, such as the redesign of the suite at the L’Ille Aux Oiseaux hotel, a set of villas located in Bordeaux, France, as well as the design of the La Maison Champs Élysées hotel, which consolidated Margiela’s approach to architecture and design.
Inside the villas, the spaces are furnished with a collection of pieces designed specifically for the project. The experience is completed with an art gallery, a select library, a fitness center, a spa, a swimming pool and the first Margiela café in a residence.
The leap into real estate is part of the company’s expansion strategy in the Middle East, which includes the opening of the new Maison Margiela boutique and Café Margiela at the Mall of Emirates.
