Chanel goes sky-high in Tokyo with the craftsmanship of La Galerie du 19M
The French firm will present its universe on the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower from September 30 to October 20, 2025. The tour will be free and will feature installations, collaborations and a Lesage retrospective.

Chanel is taking its creative universe to the skies above Tokyo. From September 30 to October 20, 2025, the luxury fashion house will install its Galerie du 19M on the 52nd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, one of the most emblematic skyscrapers of the Japanese capital. The initiative, promoted by the Chanel Foundation, aims to bring the public closer to the work of the Métiers d’art, the artisan workshops that are part of the brand.
The project marks a new chapter in the international expansion of 19M, the brand’s building founded in 2021 and located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. The space hosts several artisan houses such as Massaro specialized in shoes or Maison Michel in hats in addition to a gallery open to the public.
Since then, La Galerie du 19M has presented several temporary versions. In 2024, Chanel installed a free temporary gallery in the Fort Saint-Jean du Mucem, in Marseille, coinciding with the fashion show of the Cruise 2024/25 collection, and now lands for the first time on the Asian continent.
Chanel presents in Tokyo an exhibition on its ‘Métiers d’art’
The exhibition in Tokyo will be divided into three main spaces. The first, The Festival, will be a monumental installation signed by the ATTA agency and Japanese architect Tsuyoshi Tane, focused on highlighting the techniques of Chanel’s Maisons d’art. The next space, entitled Beyond Our Horizons, will bring together works by thirty Japanese and French artists and craftsmen. Many of the pieces have been developed in collaboration with the 19M workshops and curated by five key figures of the Japanese creative scene.
Finally, the tour will culminate with Lesage, 100 years of fashion and decoration, a retrospective with emblematic pieces celebrating the centenary of one of the most prestigious embroidery houses in the world. At the main venue in Paris, La Galerie du 19M brings together several art houses and nearly 700 artisans with a savoir-faire in various fields of the fashion industry.
The move of La Galerie du 19M to Tokyo is part of the long history of cultural relations between Chanel and Japan. From its first fashion show in the Japanese country in 1978 to the Métiers d’art exhibition at its Ginza flagship store in 2004, the luxury fashion house has repeatedly shown its admiration for Japanese aesthetics and manufacturing processes.
