Zalando goes greener: rides the wave of circular fashion with Zalando Wardrobe

Zalando continues to take eco steps. The German ecommerce platform has strengthened its sustainability strategy with Zalando Wardrobe. The app for secondhand clothes plans to sell more than one million items in 2019.

Zalandro Wardrobe is a mobile app that the company launched last year and allows consumers to sell their secondhand clothes in exchange for a voucher of the company. At the moment, the app is only active in Germany.

“We make it easier for customers to buy more sustainably and we experiment and collaborate across the industry to shape a circular and prosperous fashion future,” said Kate Heiny, director of corporate responsibility and sustainability at the company.

The company has ended its third quarter with a revenue of 1.5 billion euros, an increase of 26.7% compared to the previous year. Its gross merchandise volume rose by 24.6%, up to 1.9 billion euros.
