Spanish Ecoalf increase capital and lands in The Netherlands

Spanish company Ecoalf takes a step further in its strategic plan and opens more stores. The company, one of the sustainable fashion landmarks in Spain, is planning to open in the following days in Spanish city Málaga, and in the following weeks, in Amsterdam. These openings would join the three establishments that the company already has in Spain, and the only one that has abroad, located in Berlin.

Thus, the new establishment in the heart of the city of Málaga will reinforce the commercial network that the brand has in the county. It gathers own points of sale in Barcelona (in the mall L’Illa Diagonal), in Madrid, where it has its flagship store, and in Valencia, besides the presence in the rest of the territory through corners in El Corte Inglés.

Málaga is also one of the harbours where Ecoalf is collaborating with the local fishing fraternities for a sea plastic debris pick up program. Currently, the company cooperates with forty fraternities of the whole Spain for this mission.

The one of Amsterdam, for its part, will be the second store that the group starts to run outside Spain. According to what Javier Goyeneche, founder of Ecoalf, told to modaes.es, Amsterdam is a city related to the value that the company represents. The executive points that the expansion through retail will not be fast, because they need to evaluate that the venues fill certain sustainability criteria.

Ecoalf started up the strategy of opening points of sale after the entrance in its capital of Luxembourger fund Manor Group. The company closed last April a capital expansion of 4.5 million euros.

Its growth and expansion goes also along to new incorporation to its management team. The last in joining the company has been a former Uno de 50, Mauro Álvarez, who started his career in El Corte Inglés, stayed for more than ten years in the accessories company before joining sustainable fashion.

In the latest year, the Spanish company also signed Marisa Selfa, a sector’s historical and former Cortefiel, as new general director, besides reinforcing the top management with new executives in each of the areas.

Thus, Gemma Navarro, former El Corte Inglés, has recently joined as new purchase manager; Rafel Campos Pérez, also coming from Tendam, as financial director, and Marcos Pérez, former VF and Lacoste, leading the commercial area. To pilot the creative direction, the company signed Alma Aguilar.

According to the latest data available in the Commercial Register, Ecoalf Recicled Fabrics concluded the 2017 exercise with a volume of business of 4.13 million euros, with an improve of 14.7% regarding the 3.6 million euros of a year before. The partnership registered losses of 1.15 million euros.
