Nike temporarily closes its European headquarters over coronavirus

Nike shuts its European headquarters over coronavirus. The US fashion distribution company has temporarily closed its European headquarters, located in the Dutch province of Hilversum, after reporting that an employee had been afflicted by the virus.

The Nike office currently employs 4,000 people, from around eighty countries. According to the Dutch media agency ANP, the office will be disinfected, and the employee will be quarantined for fourteen days. Nike’s global headquarters in the state of Oregon were also closed over the weekend for cleaning due to another suspected case of virus transmission.

Earlier this year, Nike explained in a statement that several businesses have closed temporarily in China and reduced working hours of their employees in the country as a means to prevent the outbreak of the virus that is affecting mainly Asia.

Nike said in the statement that it expects the situation to have a material impact on its operations in China and that it will update its forecasts for the results corresponding to the third quarter since the situation was not envisioned.
