Nike takes a step towards sustainability. The American sportswear giant has opened a new distribution center that is aligned with the group’s direct offense strategy with its consumers and the reduction of its carbon footprint. The new distribution center is located in the Belgian location of Ham.

 

The facility is powered with renewable energy including wind, solar and hydroelectrically power and has the ability of shipping a single order as efficiently as an order of 10,000 products, according to the company. 

 

The 1.5 million square foot distribution center will serve the European, African and Middle Eastern markets. “Our new distribution center represents Nike’s continued investment in a fast and flexible supply chain to deliver the full range of our product to consumerswhen they want it, where they want it,” stated COO Eric Sprunk, in a press release. 

 

Nike ended its fiscal year 2019 with a rise of 7% in its revenue, up to 39.1 billion dollars. The company explains this to the good performance of its brand Jordan and its direct sale to consumers. Its net benefit was 4 billion dollars
