Inditex could build a new logistics park in town of Sagunto. The owner of Zara has submitted the only bid to acquire a plot of 3,300,000 square feet of logistics and industrial land in Parc Sagunt, in Valencia, for €160 million with the aim of launching a new logistics base. Participated by the Generalitat and the state-owned Sepides, the plot is located next to the Volkswagen factory.

Initially reserved for possible industrial suppliers of PowerCo, the subsidiary of the Volkswagen group, “the undeveloped land had a safeguard clause in the commercialization for a time, with the anticipation of a possible auxiliary implementation of the gigafactory”, as reported by El Confidencial.

Inditex has only bid for one of the lots of more than 300,000 meters, a third of the total plot, which has one million meters, and everything indicates that, once the project has been analyzed, it could be awarded in a few weeks, since the textile giant is the only bidder.

Inditex could be considering the development of another platform for Tempe, the company specialized in the design, manufacture and distribution of footwear and accessories for the seven fashion brands of the Spanish group. The Parc Sagunt plot could be the place where this project could land.

In 2024, Inditex announced an investment plan of €1,800 million, distributed equally between 2024 and 2025, with the aim of strengthening the group’s logistics capacity to cover its medium and long-term growth.

The major operation planned for 2025 was the opening of the new distribution center in Zaragoza, which has already begun operations. This will more than double Inditex’s logistics capacity in the area, as well as becoming the fifth distribution center for its flagship store, Zara, and the company’s second in Zaragoza. This is in addition to the construction of a logistics center in Valencia for Tempe, the company’s footwear subsidiary.

The other major corporate move is the future relocation of four of the headquarters of its chains to Sant Adrià del Besòs, much closer to Barcelona. Although the move has no estimated date yet, Inditex will begin construction and renovation of the site as soon as it has the necessary licenses.
