Hurley: two former Nike buy EMEAs business

 

 

Hurley changes hands. Javier Carrera and David Meire, two Spanish executives with a background in sportswear companies like Nike, have acquired the business of the surfwear company in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

 

After the deal, Carrera, who has been named as CEO of the company, and Meire will maintain Hurley headquarters in Barcelona and “will continue with the surf project for the brand”. The two executives, who will work in the sports industry again, will be focused on a fluid transition after the change of ownership.

 

Nike controlled the company since 2002, when it acquired it for 95 billions of dollars. Last December, the American giant sold the American business of to Bluestar Alliance.

 

 

 

 

With the acquisition of Hurley, both Meire and Carrera return to the sportswear business.  Carrera started his career in Pepe Jeans in 2015. He has previously worked for Nike, where he was Western sports general manager. Before that, the executive had worked for companies like Quiksilver and DC Shoes.

 

David Meire the chief client officer of Desigual until last year. The executive, who worked for the company since 2017, had previously worked for Nike.
