El Corte Inglés new roadmap: own brands, digital transformation and new businesses
The new president of the Spanish department stores giant, Marta Álvarez, presented the roadmap that defines the new strategic politics of the company to boost its growth.

New roadmap of El Corte Inglés. The president of the Spanish department store giant, Marta Álvarez, has detailed in its annual meeting the guidelines of its new strategic politics, based in three pillars: own brands, digital transformation and new businesses and services.
“We are in a key moment, we have ideas to create new businesses, to follow the rhythm that the society demands to reach new goals”, explained Álvarez. “We are closer to winning the future”, stated.
Álvarez has made emphasis on the digital transformation of the group. According to the executive, “There are not two clients, one phisical and one digital, there is only one client, that we need to think of through every media and channel”.
El Corte Inglés is planning the launch of an app for the end of this year
Facing the end of the year, the company is planning to launch an app that will change the way the group communicates with the clients, according to the Spanish giant. Álvarez also announced the bet of El Corte Inglés for its own brands, particularly in fashion, with the opening of other two for 2020.
The executive also stated during her intervention, the importance of the team of more than 90,000 employees that currently work for the group. As well as talking about the company’s suppliers that she referred as strategic partners.
The president of the group also talked about sustainability and shared part of its strategy in this direction: reduce step-by-step the disposable plastic bags and achieve a zero-waste policy in all its stores.
