Chanel reveals new headquarters for its artisans

Chanel takes care of its artisans. The French luxury giant, owned by the Wertheimer brothers, has unveiled its new headquarters in France to gather its artisans that the group controls through its subsidiary Paraffection.

The building has an area of 25,000 square meters and it’s in the Palace Skanderbeg de Aubervilliers, in a north suburb of Paris. The new structure has been named as 19M: 19 for the district where it’s located and the date of birth of Gabrielle Chanel, M as in mode (fashion in French); main (hand in French)and maison (house in French), as stated by Bruno Pavlosky, president of the fashion division of the group.

Amongst the companies that will move to the new structure are Lesage Intérieurs and its embroidery school, the Montex and MTX atelier; its furnishing division, the Massaro shoemaker, the feather and fake flowers maker Lemarié; the milliner Maison Michel; the Lognon fabric pleater and Eres, the swimwear brand owned by Chanel.

All of them controlled by the subsidiary Paraffection, created in 1977 with the goal of preserving artisans in fashion. Chanel created the Métiers d’Arts collection, that it presents in a runway show in Paris.

Chanel revealed its results for the first time in 2018, leading to rumors of a possible sale. The group’s revenue was 9.6 billion euros in 2018, overcoming Gucci and Hermès and similar to Louis Vuitton’s results.
